Kenya Airways (KQ) is the national airline of Kenya and was founded in 1977. It first flew on 4 February 1977 servicing the London/Nairobi route using a Boeing 707–321 leased from British Midland Airways. A year later, the airline’s network comprised five domestic and 16 international destinations. Kenya Airways is sometimes incorrectly called Kenya Airlines.
Kenya Airways was the first African airline to become successfully privatised in 1996. Kenya Airways has its main hub in Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. In 2001 Kenya Airways formed a partnership with KLM. KLM owns slightly more than a quarter of Kenya Airways. Kenya Airways operates the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for many of its long haul flights.
As of July 2016, Kenya Airways serviced 54 destinations, 44 of which are within Africa. Kenya Airways is a full member of the SkyTeam alliance.
It is worth mentioning that people often incorrectly refer to Kenya Airways as Kenyan Airways, Kenya Airlines and even Air Kenya.

How to find cheap Kenya Airways Flights
Of course, you want to book cheap Kenya Airways flights. If you have flexibility with regards to your travel dates you could fly on dates that fall outside school holidays. Flights to Kenya are often more expensive during school holidays. Of course flights during Christmas and Easter also tend to be more expensive. The best thing you can do if you have to travel during these festive periods is to book early. The earlier you book your flights, the cheaper they tend to be.
When it comes to what day of the week to travel on, it is clear that mid-week flights tend to be cheaper. Most people will go away for 1 or 2 weeks. They would ideally like to travel on Friday evening after they have finished work or on Saturday. So because flights on Fridays and Saturdays are popular, they tend to be more expensive.
Likewise, people returning from holiday generally would like to come back before the working week starts. So Sunday flights are also in high demand. With all that said, try to avoid booking flights on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The cheapest flights are normally in the middle of the week. Use our flight search tool at the top of this page to find and book cheap Kenya Airways flights.
